Speaking as a zombie, I used to suggest that the yet-to-be-assimilated download my source distribution and run: python setup.py easy_install --no-deps . (and somehow arrange for dependencies to be installed, too) If that's reasonable and up-to-date advice, perhaps it could be part of this "setuptools :q!" guide...
