Position Title: Sr. Manager, Release Engineering Location: Carlsbad, CA Description: Sr. manager role oversees all aspects of the release engineering and application deployment processes including: coordination of project activities pertaining to software builds, automation and deployments as well as configuration elements within the Quality Assurance, Staging, Customer Test, Training, and Production environments. The individual must be familiar with standard concepts, best practices, and procedures for release management and applications configuration management in global enterprise environments. The individual will be responsible for developing and maintaining global release management policies and procedures. Direct reports to this manager will be responsible for the release management of products including but not limited to: Oracle Enterprise One, Siebel, PeopleSoft HR, Agile, Cognos, Traxi3, Commergent, Hyperion, FAST and custom e_Commerce applications. Experience with these or similar products as well as scripting and programming experience (sh, Perl, C, Java, J2EE, VBasic) is highly desirable. This position requires strong organizational and communications skills to ensure a high level of internal coordination, and customer satisfaction. Typical Responsibilities: Defines and manages the release and build processes for QA, Test, and Production systems. Works with the infrastructure teams, implementation teams, and support teams to set up hosted application environments for development, testing, staging, and quality assurance. Understands and communicates system architectures and capabilities and is able to effectively troubleshoot compile, build, and integration failures. Defines and implements quality procedures to ensure effectiveness, including peer reviews of upgrade plans, queries and result sets. Establishes and maintains source control standards for customer releases (using Perforce or application specific management tools). Provides planning tools and feedback concerning upgrade plans, environment refreshes, promotions, and implementations, to insure successful completion of initiatives. Assists with corporate implementations and training as needed. Performs management responsibilities including performance evaluations, schedule time off, resource evaluation, etc. Job Requirements: Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field or the equivalent of 10+ years experience with releasing software. Supervisory or management experience required Maintains a relationship with the Infra account manager and support teams as well as manages licenses and tracking. Experience with Incident, Problem, Change, Configuration and Asset Management processes and workflow. Knowledge of ITIL and other IT Best Practices frameworks Excellent verbal communication skills. Excellent documentation and written communication skills. Superior organizational skills and attention to detail, including time management skills and highly tuned problem solving and analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to think out of the box and generate creative solutions. Flexibility that allows effective teamwork with people at all levels of the organization.
