That's all any of us have ever actually asked...
If you could relinquish your cold iron grip on setuptools, we could get
on with the work there, under one package, leaving one obvious way to do
things (as it should be in the python world) without having all this
wasteful discussion...
Seriously, I suspect all you'd need to do is give access to the
distribution named "setuptools" on PyPI and the various volunteers could
make the rest work...
