For 0.6.x series, the only advantage is that we are fixing all the bugs that were added in setuptools issue tracker since a year or so (plus some other fixes and enhancement) * See: http://bitbucket.org/tarek/distribute/wiki/bug_listing * and the changeset file since 0.6.1 For the upcoming 0.7.x series: * py3k support (maybe this will be also added in 0.6.3) * splitting of the code in smaller logical distributions.
