I thought about suggesting you were maybe missing rpm or rpmbuild, but
decided not to send that thought because you had said “rpm and distutils
are both installed”. I never really looked into the bdist_rpm code, and
I have no idea of how rpm works. I should learn a bit more when I find
time to work on http://bugs.python.org/issue11122
I'm still shaking my head at that *awful* error message though.
Yep, lying about the file that’s missing is definitely not good. I’ll
investigate distutils.spawn to see if I can fix that.
