I think Nick has broadly hinted that he would welcome someone else 
picking up the task of extending PEP 453 to Python 2.7.  I don't have 
the time right at the moment to do it myself but I certainly am willing 
to backport to 2.7 the pieces of the implementation that I did.

Definitely and that should work for 2.6 and 3.3 as well.
