Hi Hussein, OK, your explanation makes total sense. Thank you so much. Since you are planning on parameterizing bullets in a future release (yay!!!) please consider the following. In MS-Word, I can use bullets that are not of the same font as the text. For example, in my choices under a task step, I can define the text of the choices as Calibri but the bullets as a right-pointing triangle from Wingdings 3 and I can apply a different color and point size to the bullet. It would be really, really cool if the XSL Utility parameters for bullets would allow us to use a bullet from a different font and be able to apply a particular color. I know I'm asking for a lot, but it would make my life so much easier. :-) By the way, I have to commend you on the simple organization of the XSLT stylesheets. It is very easy for me to figure out what is specified where and I have had a fairly easy time creating our custom XSLT stylesheet. I still have more to customize and more to learn. I just thank you very, very much for the XSLT Utility and the stylesheets. They are a tremendous help. Thanks, JUlie

Please see attached. I confirm that out of the box, there is no problem at all. The culprit is your custom font settings, not your custom stylesheet, not our product, not MS-Word. Your custom font settings is, if my memory serves me well, specified using XFC parameter: genericFontFamilies set to: serif=Calibri,sans-serif=Georgia The problem is caused by the fact that font Calibri has few glyphs compared to Arial or Times New Roman. The bullet character used for a choice element is ○ (WHITE CIRCLE) and font Calibri does not support it[*]. (I found this by looking at <xslutil_install_dir>/addon/config/dita/xsl/fo/task.xsl) You need to change this character to something more common, for example 0#x2022; (BULLET, but any character supported by Calibri would do.) Please find attached to this email a custom_fo.xsl containing the modified templates (not an elegant workaround indeed!). I've tested it with font Calibri and it solves this problem. See attached screenshot. You need to copy these trivially modified templates in your own custom fo.xsl file. Please do not forget to declare the "xfc" namespace prefix (xmlns:xfc="http://www.xmlmind.com/foconverter/xsl/extensions") in your own custom fo.xsl file. --- [*] We didn't expect common Windows fonts to contain so few glyphs. That's why, starting from next ditac/XSL Utility release, it will be possible to use parameters to specify bullets. > > >>> Julie McHam 1/13/2012 7:51 AM >>> > Hi Hussein, > See the attached sample to see how the task topic <choices> element > renders in docx. > Here is DITA code I used for part of that page. > <step> > <cmd>Complete fields in the Budget Code section of that topic.</cmd> > <choices> > <choice>If the PAR affects funding, specify one or more funding lines and > corresponding funding percentages.
