Hi,

You can get a copy of Conversa DITA Publisher,
http://maxprograms.com/products/conversa.html , a free tool that provides a
GUI for ditac. Setting up the location of the HTML Help Compiler is quite
easy in the GUI.

Current version of Conversa uses ditac 2.6.0. It will be updated to use
ditac 2.6.2 in the next few days.

Regards,

Rodolfo M. Raya

Subject: [ditac] Configuration ditac converter

As a response to your mail announcing ditac-2_6_2 and since you have
recommended to me the use of XMLmind DITA Converter as an alternative for
the dita-ot curiosity made me to download the zipped converter files,
unzipped it on my portable drive. Simple enough I managed to convert my
first bigger project into various output formats. Just out of the box, it
worked perfectly. One thing however is not clear to me when it comes to
register the location of my HTML help compiler. I can convert into a CHM
file when I add the location of the hcc compiler every time as a command
line option (-hhc exe_file). Now I want to fix that path in the ditac.option
file as per manual. My problem now, where shall I place that ditac.option
file really. Remember, I did not install the dita converter, but only
unzipped it. The manual says, the ditac.option file shall be located in
"C:\Users\john\AppData\Roaming\XMLmind\ditac\", which normally will be
created during an installation, but not when unzipping it. Well I created
the directory manually and copied my ditac.option file there. And it works.
My only concern is, that when I wanted to run the dita converter from my
portable drive, the AppData\Roaming-path and thus the ditac.option file
might be missing on my other computers. My question now: Can I keep the
ditac.option file within the installation directory of the ditac converter?
And if, where shall I place it?

Always grateful for your dedicated support!

Greeting

Mike
