Quite the opposite.
Neither is self contained, both need a server to be of any use but with
the Squeezebox firmware that server can either be a local server or
Logitech's MySqueezebox.com online service. For the UE firmware it has
to be the UESmartRadio.com online service, without it, the radio does
nothing.

There's no infrastructure or tweaks for the Smart Radio, nobody has
bothered hacking it since there is support of Applets for the Squeezebox
firmware if that's what you are after.

Have a look at the 3rd party software forum or the developer forum here
for tweaks, stuff that runs directly on the device in LUA is called an
Applet.
