Good question. The radio power supply delivers 12V, the RaspPi requires 5V (usually via MicroUSB). The 7805 is a simple three legged component that takes 12V in on PIn 1 and provides regulated 5V on Pin 3. Pin 2 (centre pin is for ground). I took the 12V feed from the output of the large smoothing cap that feeds the radio. The ground pin was soldered to the ground plane of the radio power supply board. Essentially I drilled 3 holes in circuit board. Pin 1 and 3 were oversized so that the pins do not short against the ground plane. They were secured in place with hot glue. Around the centre pin you scrape the green pcb away to reveal copper and solder the pin to that. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ nickcase's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=63905 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102959 _______________________________________________ diy mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/diy
