Right there at the end it is. Unfortunately it's one of those many small bugs in the raw CLI which make it useless :-(. If you can use http rather then telnet to talk to LMS, I'd suggest you use /jsonrpc.js to send the same query (inspect eg. how the web UI does it). This would give you structure json data back, where the remoteMeta hash would be usable.
