Check out 'SqueezeButton Pi Daemon (sbpd)' (https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?107001-ANNOUNCE-SqueezeButtonPi-Tool-to-use-buttons-and-rotary-encoders-on-a-RPi). It can be installed as a pCP Extension. It started life as a way to trigger LMS commands, but it now also allows you to run a script.
