The pi zero can have a USB based wifi donge, if you add a usb micro to usb-A adapter, or wired ethernet solutions with microusb The pi3 can have a squeezelite running too, if you can forgive the lesser quality of the pi its analogue output, or as something over USB. You can also do without squeezelite on the pi3, if you you a controller function through f.i. squeezer on android, LMS web GUI through http://[lms.IP]:9000 , or even Ipeng on an apple device.
But do not try to cascade the pi's , Way to much trouble, and little to gain.
