Yeah, I could hand roll it but the benefit of the DRF structure is not having to do all of that for CRUD endpoints. I was hoping this was built in and I wouldn't have to fight against it. That docs link has exactly what i'm looking for, but it doesn't show the routes or the viewsets so I wasn't able to get it working completely.
