Comment:

 Jacob, I think there must be a mis-understanding or something. As far as I
 know, Django is thread-safe. An enquiry in django-developers gave the same
 result. Therefore, I'm re-opening the ticket. Can you please explain what
 you mean with Django "not being thread-safe"?
 
 If it really isn't thread-safe, threaded mode for fastcgi should not be
 offered, either.
