Comment:
The original problem reported in this bug was fixed by [4933], so I'm
going to close this.
The broader issues that some comments raise are being addressed on the
unicode branch and aren't related to the original problem report in any
case (so should be separate tickets if they aren't fixed after the unicode
branch merges).
