Oh and as a temporary fix for everyone bitten by the bug, you can delete
the cache after the creation of the model that isn't able to get the
relation. Like so:

from other_app.models import Tag
class Thing(models.Model):
tag = models.ManyToManyField(Tag)
del Tag._meta._all_related_many_to_many_objects
}}}
