Alexander: this ticket is waiting for somebody who can repeat the problem
to give feedback on Simon's suggested fix in comment 14. If that works, it
is the correct fix, since it is applied at the right point (initial
conversion). So instead of complaining, how about testing the suggestion
and seeing if it works?
