Comment:

 I'm not sure this is such a common need that it must be in Django itself
 (rather than say, as a third-party app). Also, different projects may have
 different requirements that may make crafting a generic solution somewhat
 difficult. If you implement something that you think is suitable, please
 offer your proposal on the DevelopersMailingList to see if there's
 consensus to include it. If so, we could reopen this ticket.
