Daniel, your example does not include the definition of the __str__ or
__unicode__ method of Attendee. It looks like you might be having
class Attendee(models.Model):
[...]
def __unicode__(self):
return self.user
(this gives me a stacktrace resembling yours)
Which should be something like
class Attendee(models.Model):
[...]
def __unicode__(self):
return unicode(self.user)
