There are a bunch of links and mentions of irc://irc.freenode.net in the
Django documentation. Many people don't have an IRC client set up so
sending them to irc:// protocol links isn't so much use. Also the official
endpoint to connect to is chat.freenode.net these days - irc.freenode.net
 is a CNAME to it.

I think if we updated the documentation to point to the freenode "chat"
page it would be the most use: https://freenode.net/kb/answer/chat . This
includes a link to the webchat interface as well as configuration
instructions for connecting with an IRC client.
