 You can look at the
 [https://code.djangoproject.com/query?status=!closed&component=GIS
 existing issues] for component "GIS" and see that they are all for
 `django.contrib.gis`. Perhaps it's confusing for you, but it's been like
 that since the beginning of Django, and I don't see much advantage to
 renaming it now.
