That's a good point, I didn't think about directly instantiating the
widgets like that.
Perhaps it would be safer to check the type of the argument (since
`replace` could be a common method name)? I know some folks have strong
feelings about doing that in Python, but it seems like it would be safer.
I'll attach a new patch that does that.
