This could be solved in a series of steps:
1. Give good error messages so people don't have to log queries in order
to even find out what's happening.
1. A doc change to lead people here so they know what's going on.
1. Create a flag allowing these errors to be thrown and the runscript to
continue.
1. Fix the issue robustly as per comment 21
I would love to get involved but I'm not sure where to start on this one.
