Comment:
For whatever its worth, I've verified that the problem is in fact a type
problem which could be solved by including the line:
{{{birthday_datetime =
datetime.datetime.combine(birthday,datetime.time())}}}
but even so, the silent failure made it very difficult to figure this out.
