We are writing such an interface for internal use. The contact information includes: - work phone numbers - home phone numbers - cell phone numbers - pager phone numbers It is stored in an LDAP directory. Work phone numbers are viewable by anybody while the other numbers are viewable only by authorized people. The interface allows administrators to define who is authorized to view those personal phone numbers at the user level (viewer-contact relationship), department level (viewer-department relationship) or group level (viewer-custom group relationship). We also support 'permission inheritance'. Those relationships are stored in a SQL backend. A regular user will be able to view somebody's personal phone numbers based on these pre-defined relationships. The application performs the lookups in LDAP.
