Hey guys, I have started to look into the way of Web frameworks. See, I have been a web developer ever since the humble beginings of php and I have enjoyed making and designing websites.
A few months ago, I was hired by a company to work full time on a content website called http://mentoringleaders.com, you can see the working beta at http://mentoringleaders.com/index.php . I have enjoyed working with php, but untill now, php has only been a side job for me, I have never really worked too hard into it's functions and started to create a CMS sytsem. But now, I understand why people complain about PHP. Some times I feel like I want to scream at the top of my lungs and delete the whole FTP server, but I guess I can't, because there goes all my work down the drain. So last week, I started to look into a new languge I could learn. But nothing that great is out there, special for web dedicated programming. So, I looked some more, and some more and some more. Over the course of a day, I finaly figured I needed to use a web framework. Now, I have some small expireance in Ruby on Rails, and I pretty much enjoy it. The only thing that bugs me, is that I have to write everything on my own. Pretty much everything after that is amazing. I enjoy write in Ruby, but I have done my reseach, and everything that I need to do comes to Django. On the weekend, I looked at Django back to front, and I believe it is the framework from my site. The content managment is great, the autorisation is great, and the syndication is amazing. It is almost a crime how easy things get. The Python language is pretty stable, and I have learnt it pretty easyly. I still have a few more things about objects to learn, but I believe I can get my head around that. Other than that, I think my system can be rebuilt into Django in a few weeks. But I am not fully convinced that I should choose Django. Should I? I really am not sure. Should my site be writen in Django or should I just stick with PHP?
