Yes, it's a bad idea. Django 1.7 is unsupported and no longer receives 
security updates. Please use at least the Django 1.8 series (the latest is 
1.8.8 as of now) which is a long-term support release and will receive 
security updates until April 2018 as described at 
https://www.djangoproject.com/download/#supported-versions.

I'd be curious to hear under what circumstances using the latest version of 
Django will cause headaches for hosting. It really shouldn't affect any 
hosting providers as far as I know.
