Ah, forget it. You wrote that it worked fine with older versions, so it can't be psycopg2. I'm really busted here. Please understand that I simply don't have the time to set up a SuSE box for this. As a last resort, you could try to find out at which line in the code the process aborts by adding print statements in the django database backend to psycopg2, or by single-stepping through the code with pdb.
