Ok. Thank you all.
I now downloaded the current release directly from djangoproject and
everything worked fine.
I didn't find out what was exactly wrong with the macports django
package, but probably the problem was that I use the Macpython 2.5
binary package and not the py25 package from macports, so in the end
there is quite a lot of stuff to write in your PATH when you do this.
Anyway directly using the django from djangoproject seems to be less
complicated.
