You could use the "cycle" template tag (<a href='http://
www.djangoproject.com/documentation/templates/#cycle'>Documentation</a>).
If your separator for a single row was a slash, you could do something
like
{% for o in some_list %}
{% cycle '' 'row2' rowvar %}
...
</tr>
{% endfor %}
