It sounds like it should be reasonably easy to test for any given version, so please take a version that is known to work, then check out a version halfway in-between that and 7457 and test that. Continue to bisect until you have the changeset that seems to trigger the problem. It won't take too many tests. It's unclear from your description where these strings are coming from, but I'm going to guess that "area" is the name of a model. Is the verbose name for the model marked for translation? You've only shown that (possibly) the verbose_name_plural is so marked, which is different. Regards, Malcolm -- I just got lost in thought.
