I cant find something about this on the net.
What is the difference if i leave out the through
parameter on a ManyToManyField
in a model definition like this one from the django docs:
class Person(models.Model):
name = models.CharField(max_length=128)
def __unicode__(self):
return self.name
class Group(models.Model):
name = models.CharField(max_length=128)
members = models.ManyToManyField(Person, through='Membership')
def __unicode__(self):
return self.name
class Membership(models.Model):
person = models.ForeignKey(Person)
group = models.ForeignKey(Group)
date_joined = models.DateField()
invite_reason = models.CharField(max_length=64)
Or the other way round: What does the through param do?
Till now i did not know the through param and everthing worked for me
with intermediate models.
