was flipping through sfgate's day in pictures when i came across this one:
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/sfgate/object.old.cgi?object=/news/pictures/20
02/11/29/
shopping3.jpg&paper=chronicle&file=dip.DTL&directory=/gate/archive/2002/11/2
9&format=
dip
ironically, the next picture in the slide show was this:
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/sfgate/object.old.cgi?object=/news/pictures/20
02/11/29/
gathering4.jpg&paper=chronicle&file=dip.DTL&directory=/gate/archive/2002/11/
29&format=
dip

really, it's an odd juxtaposition of pictures. in one, you see the mass
glutton and greed of
consumerism. people rushing into a store at six in the morning to buy a 27
inch tv. in the
next, you see children desperately scrambling to pick up pieces of _paper_
so they can
burn them for heat.

guys, remember how blessed you are to be in this country and to have your
wealth, no
matter how meager it seems.
