i wasnt going to add my two cents but...

at the rally on Sunday I saw a lot of posters that
said "Fuck Bush", "Bush is an Idiot", "Bush is a
Weanie", you get the point...flaming without saying
anything constructive doesn't help anyone and most of
the time its just annoying...and actually all these
recent e-mails that tell others whats correct to say
and whats not are just as worthless...I'm only finally
deciding to comment cuz everyone wants to bash their
friends and actually thats kind of fun, but all this
bashing across the various rave lists just seem
annoying...its kind of like sitting on the bus while a
guy talks shit on his cell phone to his
girlfriend...nobody wants to hear it...

What people never understand is when the tone of
e-mails on a rave list turn political, it almost
always then becomes personal...but not everyone on
this list knows everyone and attacking others beliefs,
ignorant or not, just creates chaos...anarchy has its
place, and everyone thinks being an anarchist is cool
and shit, that is until they get attacked
themselves...then it becomes a mindless battle of who
is bigger and badder by how many negative things they
can say...

if some of these people you need to bash IS your
friend, a small request...don't reply ALL...I really
do want to read what everyone is saying but if every
other e-mail is mindless bashing without saying
anything it can get old kind of fast...The recent
crisis in the Middle East and the marines e-mail in
question has created a tension on the list that has
nothing to do with raves...I dont mind talking about
non rave related stuff, I think its great, but
politics makes interesting debates turn ugly and
boring real quick...I don't agree with everything that
is being said, but I do wish I could read the
competing views without dealing with the childish
nonsense...I'd not so arrogant that I'm convinced my
cache of wisdom is all I'll ever need to
learn...THAT's what I see out of the Bush
Administration, not even willing to listen to views
different from theirs...

saying that, I expect some percentage of this list to
write me off as stupid and proceed to rack their minds
trying to find the best way to bash me...I hate the
things Bush is doing and until I attended the protest
I hadn't realized my Bush bashing was just as
meaningless...These protests all around the world made
all the Bush bashing more meaningful because now we
are actually venting TO Bush's face...I know he
discounted us the very next day, but thats o.k., the
protest in January was much smaller than the one this
past Sunday and the one planned for March 1 should be
even bigger,...and as it will probably play out, when
Bush goes to war anyways, the Protests will get bigger
and bigger...these organizers have learned from their
anti-Vietnam brothers, and even though this crisis
should never be confused with the Vietnam war, this
generation has a much higher profile and they can use
the media too...

sadly the protests were harmed a little when fringe
extremists decided to raise the stakes...I wont go as
far as to say they only did it for the exposure, but
it did put the otherwise peaceful demonstration of
unity in a somewhat tarnished light...those with
narrow minds would group all the organizations
together in their condemnation of the event, not
understanding every cause has its
extremists...hopefully most people on the fence the
past few months will realize this is a worth cause and
a very safe environment for kids, families, wanting to
see history in the making...

another thing that bothers me is the feeling flowing
through the original thread that somehow participating
in the anti-war protests is somehow anti-troops...they
call us cowards and make references to Hitler or the
Cold War like this crisis is comparable...I don't even
know how to answer that because what we are saying is
we don't want our friends and family in the military
to even take the chance of dying in such a needless
conflict...My family and friends in the military don't
even consider my position as non-supportive, why
though all these reactionary hateful comments towards
people who just don't want their brother, son or
father to die?

flaming is fun has its place and time...this list is a
pretty good example of that...but what happens is
someone offers a serious topic to an otherwise fun
environment and before long people are attacking each
others virility...if they were standing in front of
each other they would be yelling just to prove their
point...I am a fairly big guy who could easily use my
size to intimidate people into agreeing with me, but I
learned when I was young that being bigger doesn't
mean right...I'm afraid this administration (who am I
kidding, this is any president) would disagree with me
and proves might makes right every chance they
get...there are consequences to this recklessness and
Sept 11 was just the beginning...I don't hope these
things happen like close minded critics want to claim,
thats why I attend protests and peace rallies...I hope
people just stop and think a little harder what their
actions and words can do to others...

sorry for the long e-mail guys...sunday's rally gave
me some great feelings I just wanted to pass on to my
friends...the world has a lot of tough questions
facing humans these days and if I've learned anything
finishing college it was there are no easy answers...

peace,
da' every-raving Wolf
