Following the early tests, the test system accessible through: https://www.had-pilot.com/py/had.html for SPF, DKIM and DMARC testing is again open for business, with some improvements to its integrity and robustness.
There is:

- more explanation of what testing is possible.

- You can initiate tests from your mailer by sending messages to [email protected] with spf or dkim or dmarc as the subject,
and receive a reply with the results within two minutes.

- You can initiate tests at the browser, that generate messages from pythentic to your mail address, with good and bad spf, dkim and dmarc alternatives. To prevent our being an open relay for these tests, you have to register with pythentic first and will receive a hash, that is used in the form on each test page. These tests are rate-limited to one per minute if run manually, but all 10 of these tests can be run in automatic sequence using the p.all test.

We think the most likely use for this is on-demand testing where you will initiate tests and analyse the results for spf, dkim and dmarc on a discrete per-test basis. You are less likely to be concerned about aggregate and forensic reports from this tester. We will generate aggregate reports for dmarc messages with other than 'dmarc' as the subject - but this reporting functionality is least mature, at this
stage.

We are looking for users, and hoping for feedback, in particular on how results can be tuned to be most useful.

FYI: Our next step is to develop test capabilities for TLSA records, and DANE.

Cheers,

Stephen Nightingale, NIST.
