Right, controlling the entry points and that can include the subscription process.

Take a look at this subscription site for an example of how it works. I just updated it for DMARC. Try to subscribe using a restrictive domain, like a yahoo.com account:

  http://www.winserver.com/public/code/html-subscribe?list=list-dkim

Note: This is just controlling the manual subscription process.

Lets keep in mind that you can distribute to restrictive domains, its the submission that is mostly problematic so there are many implementation notes that can be created. For example, that the MLM can automatically make the subscriber a Read Only Member.
