It's not like we're proposing anything new or exotic here.  RFC 2556 made RFC 1240 historic, RFC 3166 made RFC 1403 historic.  We published RFC 6686 to deprecate Sender ID, the Submitter extension and SPF type 99 DNS records, which made RFCs 4405, 4406, and 4407 historic.  RFC 4450 made over 100 old RFCs historic.

If you don't think this is useful, that's fine, we're all volunteers. Nobody is forcing anyone to work on this if they don't think it's worth the time.


John, your note. above, makes 3 points.  None of them responds to the suggestion I made or the concern I'm raising.

And your last point misrepresents my concern about waste in a way that borders on ad hominem.
