Now I know where to go to see what the real state of an IPv6 protocol is. ;-) Anyway, Mobile IPv6 might be the poster child for why we need to be more proactive in deprecating and removing unused protocols from implementations. I'm looking at the Linux code and the first patches date back to 2006. There have been some changes to the code since 2007, but they all have to do with interface changes in the stack, and I don't see any bug fixes or feature additions. It looks like the only legacy of putting Mobile IPv6 into Linux might be that it's been a maintenance burden for almost twenty years :-(.
