Has anyone been able to do this?

It would be really handy because of the time it takes for Blender to
bake it's particle systems and the instability of my power supply.

According to the FAQ, one starts a VNC server instance with
"dmtcp_launch vncserver :1" and then run "vncviewer localhost:1".

It VNCviewer starts okay, but only the XTerm terminal emulator will run.

Blender appears to start, but fails with a number of errors starting with:

"AL lib: (EE) ALCplaybackAlsa_open: Could not open playback device
'default' : Connection refused.
libGL error: failed to load driver swrast

etc, etc."
