Hey there!
Is there a running list of what works in each version (The release notes
are generallly a bit vague, aka "bug fixes"?
Sorry for the somewhat vague question that didn't quite seem right for the
issues on the github, but going through the DMTCP releases, it is often
hard to tell what is working and what is not.
For example, the method of restarting a program that uses ssh onto
localhost or hostname is possible in a straight forward manner on
2.4.0-rc3, BUT on 2.5.0-rc1 and 2.5.0-rc2 I found that this method does not
work out of the box due to a significant change in restart scripts
depending on the hosts utilized across the set of processes.
Maybe I missed a change-log somewhere that may detail this in a more in
depth manner.
To elaborate, my programs use a mix of distribute methods, plenty of open
file descriptors, restarting on different hosts, infiniband enabled, and
hpc systems.
I have also noticed varying degrees of consistency on establishing
dmtcp_coordinator as a daemon... sometimes it simply doesn't happen.
(2.4.0-rc3)
I'm just probing on a method to make it easier to navigate the large set of
DMTCP versions/tags available on the github, in addition to seeing where
the start/end of bugs are within the release schedule.
I realize this is a lot of overhead on the development side and may just
not exist/be possible, but I hadn't seen anything in the docs/on the mail
list
Thanks for any info you can give!
