ive never done this my self, i just kept this post if i ever want to try
it... i know you need to have the 1.0.1 update for reason to get it working
correctly...

I use Cubase VST32 5r6 on PC and I do all that you said except for
number 5. Maybe it's already off in my default Reason project.
I've never had problems with instruments not showing up either.
The only problem I have is with new instruments automatically linking
themselves to the MixL/R channels. That and not knowing how to set up stereo
channels in Reason.
