Hello If you want a synth as well, one of the best choice is the EMU E-Synth Ultra sampler - its an Ultra sampler plus 16MB of good synth sounds (like Proteus sounds) and theres also space to burn 16MB of your own instant access ROM sounds using the sampler and you can still expand it more with a 16MB card from an Orbit or Planet Phatt synth - which is pretty damn good. �1499.
