Hi

Thanks for the information,
Wavesurgeon it is then....

About the MIDI file import thing,
1) How do you do it in Logic?
2) And would one way round the midi file problem be to have all the hits
chopped up and then just import one original full length loop of the break
in question to the sampler just in case i wanted to have it in its entirety?

Cheers

Dan

i've been successfully using wavesurgeon to chop breaks and send 'em to my
emu for a while now and i've no real complaints. i've had trouble using dx
plug-ins with it, but that has never been a problem as i only use it to chop
breaks and get them to the emu quickly.

you don't NEED to import the midi file into logic, but it's the only way
you'll keep the original groove if you want it. it's basically a template
for the timing of each hit as played in the original break. you'll then want
to muck around with it.

i can't compare it to recycle as i haven't used that much.

it will work just fine for what you want it to do, it's set up to send the
break as individual hits rather than the chunks that scope described but
it's dead easy to slice up breaks any way you like and send the bits to yer
sampler.

all you need is something to chop up a break and send the bits to a sampler,
and ws does it as well as anything else.

Subject: [dnb-prod] Using Wavesurgeon for Breaks

Hello

Just wondering if anyone uses the Wavesurgeon program with their
PCs/Macs/Emus/Yamahas and Akais?

I'll probably buy it for SCSI sample transfers between my PC and A3000v2 as
its half the price of Recycle and seems to be an equally good programme in
terms of the functionality.
Since i can't afford Soundforge at 280 and i haven't got the internet at
home for 'special versions' of Soundforge, i would have to settle for
Recycle if you can convince me its better.

Basically, all i want to do is slice up loops hit by hit into ever
decreasing smaller parts ending on the last hit of the loop (as Scope
helpfully described his Sound Forge method) and send them quickly and simply
down to the sampler to a particular key range or single key on my controller
keyboard. Does wavesurgeon make it this simple and if not, what programme
does?

Also, the press release mentions that MIDI files are saved from each
waveform that is edited (?) - does this mean that I have to import a MIDI
file of each break i edit into Logic to use the system or is this not
strictly necessary, or if it is, how does this work (is it the same
principle as inserting e.g. pictures into a Word file)? Does Recyle require
this?

Any ideas would be great,

Cheers and a Happy New Year

Dan
