I was under the impression that soundcards manufactured for laptops can be
put into laptops but they are hideously expensive. I'm sure this has been
broached before.

Scope recommended a hammerfall dsp card and gave the following link a while
ago....

I'm not sure I understand ... you can't put a
soundcard in a laptop.  So the SB Audigy and the RME
cards are out.  You can, however, put a USB audio
interface on one.  Tascam makes one, as does Emagic,
and several others.  I've no idea which ones are good,
but this is something I'm going to be looking into
soon.
