Recently I've taken to putting Waves Ultramaximiser as the final master plugin on my tracks in Cubase...
With a moderate kind of setting this allows you to almost master on the fly.. (Or at least to pump up the sound a hell of a lot).. My first question is: Can anyone give me their thoughts as to the pros and cons of this technique? It's not my ideal solution but it's the only way I've found to get hot enough levels in Cubase without turning the Master level way down... Secondly, I just realised that kind of without thinking about it I've been taking my Cubase Mixdowns and Running them Through T-racks to push them even more... The sound quality is understandably slightly lacking (although not THAT bad!).. I know that the Ultramaximiser should be run last because of it's dithering algorithms etc.. So I guess my second question is... Is this as bad an idea as I suspect? Is there a way of doing something similar to this without using the Maximiser ? (just using a limiter plugin instead??)... Can anyone recommend a decent Limiter plugin? cheers, Nick This document should only be read by those persons to whom it is addressed and is not intended to be relied upon by any person without subsequent written confirmation of its contents.
