** FOR THIS TO WORK, YOU MUST BE USING APPLE SOUNDMANAGER, NOT YOUR
SOUNDCARDS ASIO DRIVER. THIS IS B/C REASON AND CUBASE MUST BOTH BE ABLE TO
PLAY AUDIO TOGETHER AND ASIO DRIVERS DO NOT ALLOW THIS BUT SOUNDMANAGER
DOES.
Are you on Mac platform running OMS? Yes right? If so, you must first have
an IAC Driver setup in your OMS studio setup. Think of it as a virtual
instrument device which is not directly hooked up to your interface. Then in
Reason, you have to pull up that IAC driver in the EDIT-> PREFERENCES-> MIDI
page under EXTERNAL CONTROL. Pull up the IAC driver in any of the 4 buses.
You don't want anything to control the sequencer, since you will be
triggering Reason's instruments through Cubase, so have that setting set to
NO MIDI INPUT. Now on the main console of Reason, in the top region you
will see MIDI INPUT. Select the Bus that you used to bring up the IAC
driver from the step before. Now on that bus you have 16 channels of MIDI
to trigger within Cubase. Each Reason instrument is a seperate MIDI
channel. So now back in Cubase, pull up the IAC driver from your OMS,
select a midi channel and you will be able to trigger the Reason instrument
that is on the corresponding channel.

does it play when you sequence it from reason?
are you sure you are selecting the right rex player on the cubase midi
channel?

Have you tried triggering a Reason synth in Cubase.
One reason why it might not be working is because you might not be
using the proper notes.
I suggest you go into Reason and export the Dr. Rex loop to track.
this will create the midi notes in Reason's sequencer that will play the Rex
loop properly. Then export this as a midi file and import into Cubase. Then
try and play those notes in Cubase triggering Reason's Dr. Rex.
If that doesn't work then something may not be set right. Go back
over Rewire inputs, Play in background, Audio enabled, etc...

I'm just trying to get to grips with using Cubase and Reason
together, but I'm having a few problems...
Basically, I want to be able to load an instrument (sampler, rex
player, etc) in Reason then using Cubase play notes from that player within
Cubase's Key Editor...
I'm using Cubase VST/32 v5.1 R1 and Reason v1.0.1, but I cannot get
it to do what I want. I've loaded a loop into a Dr Rex Loop Player in Reason
and then in the Output page in Cubase I've selected the relevant Rex Player,
but if I record some notes into the Key Editor - it doesn't trigger
Reason...Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong as I know it can be done...
Thanks in advance...
