yup,
your right, ezcd creator has to be upgraded to version 5, version 4 won't work
with xp.
Most
CDRW drives use a standard generic driver, which gives you basic cdrom drive
functionality. The cd writing software communicates directly with the cdrw drive
and doesn't use the normal windows driver (I think it's probably the same for
DVD drives: the DVD viewer has it's own low level driver that communicates with
the drive). If you can get the drives to work properly in device manager, then
you're half-way there; all you need to do is install xp-compatible cd-writing
(ezcd creator 5 or nero 5.5) and dvd-viewing software (dunno) and the drives
should work properly.
Good luck.

Right, check this.---
I upgraded to XP and was using EZCD 4 as well. Upon upgrading EZCD4 wouldn't work same as you. However I uninstalled it ( dunno how ) and its fucked my DVD drive. Theres 2 adaptec drivers there, and everytime i boot up it sez devices or applications diabled blah blah and its these two adpatec drivers causing the ruckus.
If I delete the drivers my CD and DVD drives wont work at all ( I get the yellow circle with ! mark in it over the dvd and cd drives in device manager )
At present the DVD drive reads CD rom and audio but not DVD. ARGHHHHHH FUCKING ARGHHH!! All I wanna do is watch my fucking movies adaptec you cunts. Oh and the only posible solution it seems is to BUY EZCD 5 from Adaptec for $50. If anyone can shed some light It would be appreciated most muchly.
Easy now,
Will. ---
