Hi James,
First: PCs cant read the native file formats of the sampler
I solved my storage problem with CD-backups.
Im not familar with Yamaha Samplers, but I use two EMU-Samplers with a
PC
and I think that Your sollution should be nearly the same as mine.
(It took me have a Year to figure it out, but now it works !!)
I have two SCSI chains and two SCSI-switch boxes (one "in"/two "outs"
[bidirectional])
Connections:
SB1: In <-> Sampler
Out A <-> PC-SCSI-chain
Out B <-> Out SB2
SB2: In <-> External case with CDROM, EMU-formatted HD (just 650 MB)
and Zip-Drive
Out A <-> PC-SCSI-chain
Out B <-> Out B of SB1
For Sample dumps between PC (Wavelab) an Sampler I switch
SB1 to A,
for storage I switch
SB1 to B and
SB2 to B -> the I can store my EMU bank onto Zip or HD
For backups or storage of finished tracks (I never really "finish" my
tracks .... :) )
I store everything on the HD and switch
SB2 to A.
No I can burn a disk image on CD.
Thats it.
It need a bit of hardware, but works great for me.
