wicked, nice one mate, im wondering if maybe something on my comp stopped it
from going off too? im running trend pc-cillin as my virus scanner, and im
on aol, im not sure if they might have some sort of firewall setup to stop
virus'?

right, i went through that process of deleting all those files, i booted up
in safe mode and managed to delete
KERN32.EXE
KERNEL32.EXE
KDLL.DLL
KERNEL32.EXE (in the "runonce" folder)

i couldnt find these ones where specified (i dont know if that matters or if
it means they werent there)...

INETD.EXE
HKSDLL.DLL

when i rebooted and had a look in those folders again, a certain
"kernel32.dll" was still there. is that a genuine file or something?
i also did this and rebooted BEFORE i checked for that microsoft patch you
mentioned but it said "this update does not need to be installed on this
system", im assuming that means i already have that one?
im running my virus checker now, and im hoping it wont freeze up now!
otherwise i'll have to sort out getting a new one or something eh?
hmmm, it just ran right through my hard drive in about a minute and said "no
viruses", surely it takes longer than that usually?
thanks for all your help man, im not sure if ive actually got rid of this
thing yet (i know nothing about computers - honestly you could tell me that
this virus was a good thing and id probably believe you! ;) so i dont spose
you might be able to hit me back and let me know whether weve cracked it or
what?
thanks,
joe
